A rise in air pollution in Pakistan, particularly in highly polluted urban centres, could lead to a potential reduction of up to four years in life expectancy, according to the latest Air Quality Life Index (AQLI) report.
The annual report from the University of Chicago`s Energy Policy Institute indicates that those living in cities such as Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Peshawar could stand to lose up to four years of their lives

China`s premier warned US officials on Tuesday that moves to `politicise` trade issues would prove `disastrous` for the global economy, state media reported.
US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo is currently on a four-day bridge-building visit to China aimed at better managing tensions between the world`s two largest economies


8. India`s SC seeks time frame to restore status of Kashmir

India`s Supreme Court has asked the BJP-ruled central government if there was a timeline to convert Indian-held Kashmir from a union territory to a state.
But even as the court questioned the Modi government on the changes in the status of the territory after August 2019, Beijing ramped up pressure on New Delhi by publishing a map showing territories claimed by India as part of China.
A five-member bench headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud on Tuesday heard a set of petitions against the abrogation of Article 370 on Aug 5, 2019, robbing the region of its special status and restructuring the state into two union territories


9. Burhan visits Egypt as deadly violence grips Darfur

Sudan`s army chief on Tuesday visited Egypt on his first trip abroad since the outbreak of war in April, with the latest violence killing dozens of civilians in battle-scarred Darfur.
As Abdel Fattah al-Burhan headed for talks with key ally Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, medics and witnesses said 39 civilians were killed, most of them women and children, in shelling of Nyala, the South Darfur state capital where fighting between the army and paramilitary forces has intensified


10. Britain delays post-Brexit border checks until 2024

The British government said on Tuesday it will delay introducing post-Brexit border controls on food and fresh produce from the European Union, postponing the start date to January 2024.
The UK had delayed implementing the checks several times since leaving the EU`s customs union and single market in January 2021, but British exports have faced controls for products heading in the opposite direction.
The UK was planning to finally roll out its new import controls in phases over 12 months from October 31 this year
