1. PM calls India world`s largest `hypocrisy, not democracy`

Saying that the title of world`s largest democracy was a misnomer, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Thursday called India `the world`s largest hypocrisy`, where hollow slogans of secularism, democracy and diversity are raised to cover up caste-based societal operations, systematic intimidation, marginalisation of minorities, state-sponsored killings and terrorism.
In a near 50-minute address at a special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly, he also sent a clear message to Pakistan`s critics, saying that regardless of challenging economic conditions, the country will never budge on its core interests in the region, and beyond


2. Recent terrorist attacks came from Afghanistan: FO

The Foreign Office on Thursday doubled down on its allegations that recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan originated from Afghanistan, while firmly denying any engagement in talks with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
`Our law enforcement authorities have established links between recent terrorist incidents and individuals associated with the TTP or its affiliates, who are believed to have hideouts within Afghanistan,` said Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch during a weekly media briefing


3. SHC declares collection of property tax by cantonment boards `illegal`

The Sindh High Court on Thursday ruled that after the 18th Amendment, the federation and cantonment boards lacked power and jurisdiction to impose and recover taxes on any immovable property, including tax on the annual rental value of such property.
The two-judge bench, headed by Justice Mohammad Shafi Siddiqui, also observed that such amendment has consequently restored the competence and jurisdiction of the province to impose, recover tax and legislate on the subject matter

4. PTCL acquires 100pc shares of Telenor Pakistan for Rs108bn

The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) said on Thursday it has signed a share purchase agreement with Telenor Pakistan to buy 100 per cent of its shares based on an enterprise value of Rs108 billion ($380 million).
The deal, structured on a cash-free, debt-free basis, is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, the PTCL said in a statement. PTCL`s share price rose 8.3 per cent on Thursday.

5. Eleven killed in Israeli attack on occupied West Bank

Israeli forces killed 11 people in a multiday raid in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian health ministry said on Thursday.
The latest death was of a 17-year-old child who the ministry said was shot in the chest by the Israeli army in Jenin.
In addition to 11 killed by Israeli forces, Palestinian health officials said a sick 13-year-old child also died after Israeli forces prevented him from reaching hospital
