6. Pakistan`s first public-sector cancer hospital to be built at Pims

• The groundbreaking ceremony of the country`s first public sector cancer hospital was held at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) on July 17, 2023, which would cost Rs10.8 billion and be completed in June 202s.
• The 200-bedhospitalwill have four storeys in addition to a basement of 49,000 square feet. The building will have an out-patient department (OPD), emergency, male and female wards, gyne ward, blood cancer ward, and a number of other departments

• A fleet of eight eco-friendly buses was launched in Quetta on July 17, 2023, making it the government`s first-ever inter-city bus service.
• The buses, part of the Green Bus Service, will be operated on a public private partnership (PPP) mode.
• The service was inaugurated on Monday not by a minister or bureaucrat but by a common man who was invited to cut the ribbon by Chief Minister Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo

• Israel has recognised Morocco`s sovereignty over the disputed territory of Western Sahara and is mulling opening a consulate there, a statement from the Israeli prime minister`s office said on July 17.
• The announcement confirmed a statement earlier from Morocco`s royal palace, which said Israel`s position had been expressed in a letter to King Mohammed VI from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
• Israel was considering opening a consulate in Dakhla, the statement said


10. UNDP concerned by lack of progress in G20 debt talks

• The failure of the G20 to achieve a breakthrough on debt restructuring for vulnerable countries is a `grave concern`, the head of a United Nations agency said on July 17, 2023 as the body seeks pauses in debt repayment for poor nations amid rising poverty.
• The debt restructuring talks made little progress during the third finance meeting of the G20 countries in India, as the bloc was unable to overcome key differences and low attendance due to domestic issues adding to the roadblocks
