6. Pakistan ranked third in the world for imposing internet restrictions

Pakistan has been ranked third in the world over the imposition of internet restrictions in the first half of 2023.
According to a report by Surfshark, a virtual private network company headquartered in Lithuania, a half-year analysis of internet shutdown based on the Internet Shutdown Tracker reveals that Pakistan was responsible for three of the 42 new restrictions worldwide, which were imposed following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan on May 9.

7. Russia attacks Ukraine ports on Danube

Russia destroyed Ukrainian grain warehouses on the Danube River in a drone attack on Monday, targeting a vital export route for Kyiv in an expanding air campaign that Moscow began last week after pulling out of the Black Sea grain deal.
Last week`s attacks mostly struck the sea ports of Odesa but Monday`s pre-dawn strikes hit infrastructure along the Danube, an export route whose importance has grown since the demise of the deal allowing Ukrainian grain transit via the Black Sea

A three-day United Nations summit opened in Rome on Monday aimed at tackling a `broken` global food system where millions are starving, two billion are overweight or obese and the planet is suffering.
The food systems summit comes amid growing food insecurity around the world, with UN agencies warning of an increasing number of people suffering from chronic hunger.
`In a world of plenty, it is outrageous that people continue to suffer and die from hunger,` UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said at the opening of the meeting


9. Suicide bomber kills 30 soldiers in attack on Somali academy

A suicide bomber killed 30 soldiers and wounded scores more inside a military academy in Somalia`s capital Mogadishu on Monda.
The attack was claimed by the Al Shabaab militant group.
It said in a statement the bomber had killed 73 soldiers and wounded 124 others. The group typically gives casualty figures that are significantly higher than those provided by the authorities


10. Twitter loses distinctive bird logo amid Musk`s banking ambitions

Twitter owner Elon Musk and the chief executive he brought aboard just a month ago say the social media network will ditch the bird logo, rebrand the platform with the name X and move quickly into payments, banking and commerce.
`Powered by AI, X will connect us in ways we`re just beginning to imagine,` Twitter chief executive Linda Yaccarino tweeted. Earlier on Saturday night, Musk indicated he plans to jettison Twitter`s blue cartoon bird logo. `Soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds,` he tweeted around midnight, implying an end to the imagery from where the very word `tweet` stems
