1. Cipher trial will proceed, IHC rules

As the Islamabad High Court (IHC) said the pendency of related petitions in the court has no bearing on the cipher trial of former prime minister Imran Khan, currently underway at a special court, the PTI chairman expressed his resolve to sticl< to his demand for `Hageeqi Azadi` and `free and fair elections` This is the first message issued by the incarcerated former premier, who was initially imprisoned following his conviction in the Toshakhana case and later in the cipher case after his sentence in the former was suspended by the high court. He was moved from the Attock jail to Adiala earlier this month.
During the hearing of a bail petition filed by Mr Khan, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq made it clear that the pendency of a matter in the high court had no effect on trialin the subordinate court

3. Discrepancies in ECP data expose 13m people to disenfranchisement

Widespread over and under-registration of voters across the country is likely to cause massive disenfranchisement of men and women, as well as leaving exceptionally high room for rigging and corrupt practices in forthcoming general elections, said a coalition of civil society groups.

4. First batch of locally made SUVs exported

6. 6,000 bombs rained on Gaza in five days

The Israeli army has bombarded the Gaza Strip with approximately 6,000 bombs since Saturday, causingatleast1,417fatalities.
`Approximately 6,000 bombs have been dropped on the Gaza Strip with a total weight of 4,000 tonnes,` the army said in a statement.

7. Putin in Kyrgyzstan for first trip abroad since ICC arrest warrant

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday called to strengthen military ties with Kyrgyzstan in a trip to the Central Asian country, his first foreign visit since the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for him in March.
President Putin is wanted by the court over the deportation of Ukrainian children. Its ruling requires members of the ICC, which does not include Kyrgyzstan, to make the arrest if he sets foot on their territory


8. Armenia, Azerbaijan trade barbs at World Court over `ethnic cleansing`

Armenia and Azerbaijan crossed swords at the UN`s top court on Thursday, as Yerevan accused Baku of `ethnic cleansing` in Nagorno-Karabakh, sparking a furious response from the Azerbaijani side over the `unfounded` charges.
The clash at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) came only weeks after Azerbaijan`s took control of Nagorno-Karabakh for the first time in three decades


9. Egypt facilitating aid flights to Sinai for besieged Gaza

Egypt said on Thursday it was directing international aid flights for Gaza to an airport in northern Sinai, though delivery of relief into the Palestinian enclave has so far been hampered by Israeli bombardments around the border.
The Rafah crossing between Sinai and Gaza remained open, the Egyptian foreign ministry said, adding that Egypt had asked Israel to avoid targeting the Palestinian side of the crossing after strikes that prevented normal operations there
