6. North Korea stages tactical nuclear attack exercise
North Korea conducted a simulated tactical nuclear attack drill that included two long-range cruise missiles in an exercise to `warn enemies` the country would be prepared in case of nuclear war, the KCNA state news agency said on Sunday.
KCNA said the drill was successfully carried out on Saturday and two cruise missiles carrying mock nuclear warheads were fired towards the West Sea of the Korean peninsula and flew 1,500 km at a preset altitude of 150 meters
7. India puts moon rover to `sleep`
India switched off its moon rover, the first craft to reach the lunar south pole, after it completed its two week assignment conducting experiments, the country`s space agency said.
The Pragyan rover from the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft was `set into Sleep mode` but with batteries charged and receiver on, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, late on Saturday.
`Hoping for a successful awakening for another set of assignments!` ISRO said. `Else, it will forever stay there as India`s lunar ambassador
8. Air strike in Khartoum kills 20 civilians
Residents of Khartoum awoke on Sunday to artillery and rocl
`The death toll from the aerial bombardment` in southern Khartoum `has risen to 20 civilian fatalities,` according to a statement by the neighbourhood`s resistance committee. They are among many volunteer groups that used to organise pro-democracy demonstrations and now provide assistance to families caught in the crossfire between the army and paramilitary fighters.
In an earlier statement, they said the victims included two children, and warned that more fatalities went unrecorded, as `their bodies could not be moved to the hospital because they were severely burned or torn to pieces in the bombing`
9. Russia attacks Danube port, on border with Romania
Russian drones targeted Ukraine`s southern Odesa region in the early hours of Sunday, with Moscow hitting a Danube port on the border with NATO member Romania in an attack condemned by Bucharest.
The attack came on the eve of a summit in Russia between Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who hopes to revive the Black Sea grain deal
