With a rich and vast natural resource base covering various climatic and ecological zones, Pakistan ranks eighth in the world in farm output.
It is one of the world’s largest producers and suppliers of food and crops: chickpea (3rd), apricot (6th), cotton, rice and mango (4th), milk sugarcane and date palm (5th), kinnow or citrus (6th), and wheat and onion (7th).
The country’s agricultural sector has three major roles in the national economy: provides food to consumers and fibre to the industry, earns foreign exchange, and provides a market for industrial goods/machinery.
However, the share of agriculture in gross domestic product (GDP) has declined since independence, falling from 53 per cent in 1949-50 to 19.8pc in 2016-17.
1. Introduction
Pakistan today, confronts multiple challenges which vary in intensity. Some of the challenges appear to be multi-dimensional and complex in nature which certainly will take many years to overcome. Interestingly, a few of the problems and challenges have been self-inflicted by the powerhouses that have caused a widespread socio-economic damage to this country. This way, the poor economy of Pakistan remains the chieftain among the challenges since the country’s birth. The weak and fragile structure and the picture of the economy of Pakistan are what inevitably produce other inter-linked social challenges, such as poverty and corruption.
One gets to know that ever-rising inflation, increasing unemployment, shrinking GDP and diminishing exports level are the major obstacles which restrict the ability of Pakistan to have a well-developed and flourishing economy. According to the Economic Survey of Pakistan 2016-17, the inflation rate in Pakistan grew to 5.02% from 4.78%; GDP growth rate went up to 4.71% from 4.04%; unemployment rate declined to 5.9% from 6%; interest rate is 5.75% which remains the same. Although the economic indicators are, by the large, not appreciable but a slight increase in GDP seems to be the positive development.
What is Education?
Education is the simple process of learning and knowing. It is not restricted to the schools only. Education starts from the mother’s lap. Parents and family inculcate good manners and make responsible citizens out of their children. Home is called first school of the children, but the formal education starts from the school, where they are taught, how to behave and understand what is going on around them.

Introduction
The security operation restored the confidence of the global community in the capacity of the Pakistan military to deal effectively with terrorism. This was the main reason that the army chief received extraordinary attention during his visits to the US, the UK and China. This also contributed to changing the security-related interaction between Pakistan’s security establishment and the new Afghan government led by President Ashraf Ghani. These two countries are now involved in a more active cooperative interaction for dealing with security matters, especially counter terrorism.
