6. China slams US as `empire of lies`

China on Saturday accused the United States of being an `empire of lies`, hitting back after a State Department report claimed Beijing spends billions of dollars to spread disinformation globally.
The report, released on Thursday by the US State Department`s Global Engagement Centre, accused China of financing propaganda, disinformation and censorship while boosting positive news about the country and its Communist leadership. A top official from the centre said that if unchecked, this could result in `a slow, steady destruction of democratic values`


7. UN adopts plan to reduce chemicals harm

A new roadmap to reduce the environmental risks from chemicals and waste was adopted at a United Nations conference on Saturday as part of a drive to manage damaging chemical exposure.
The Global Framework on Chemicals was adopted by governments, companies, and NGOs at the fifth International Conference on Chemicals Management, held in Bonn, Germany, and organised by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). The plan sets out 28 concrete targets and guidelines for key sectors across the entire lifecycle of chemicals, from production to waste


8. African heath conference concludes

The second African Health Harm Reduction Conference has agreed that countries need to put political disputes and egos aside and work for the progress and betterment of people.
The three-day conference that started on Sept 27, was attended by delegates of over 80 countries, including Pakistan


9. S. Arabia-Israel deal outline agreed `sans key Palestine demand

Israel and Saudi Arabia have agreed to the outline of a historic US-brokered deal to normalise relations, the White House said on Friday, amid reports that the pact would be devoid of `iron-clad defence guarantees` and major concessions to Palestinians in their bid for statehood.
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters that the `basic framework` of the deal has been `hammered out`


10. `Pre-Taliban diplomats to leave embassy in India`

The Afghan embassy in India is apparently undergoing drastic personnel changes, but not without a hint of bitterness from the outgoing staff members and an air of mystery around who their successors would be.
Afghan Ambassador Farid Mamundzay, representing a pre-Taliban arrangement, reportedly wrote to the Indian external affairs minister, saying the embassy in New Delhi will close down its premises
