According to FDR, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself .”To put it in simple words, never be afraid of a thing you have to face inevitably.
Small surprise, the paper of US history went flat previous year in CSS. A great deal of deserving and potentially capable students were failed in this paper.
To one’s great joy, this paper is still rewarding given the fact one’s approach, method and writing skills are at least average.
As a potential way-out, do not go to exam hall with previous year failure mentality. Be innovative and imaginative.
1. From part 1 prepare the topics one by one either from the books or just watch videos on study.com or Youtube by typing the topic name in search bar and see the video which appears and seems most relevant to the topic name.
2. In case of Videos don’t pick lengthy ones but shorter ones having less than 10 to 12 minutes span.
1. Revise the three sociological perspectives with full focus by keeping in mind that a strong grip on these would make your paper stand out.
2. Those aspirants who have taken a course in Research Methodology in their degrees at university level they should revise it as per outlines, one question comes from the portion on social research methods and if you attempt it well you can take above average marks in it. But other aspirants should not take the risk and leave this portion.
1. Revise the following topics (and subtopics within) on priority basis:
a) Nature, Origin, and Basis of international law
b) Relationship between International law and State law
c) Recognition
d) The Law and Practice as to Treaties
e) International Humanitarian Law
f) UN special focus should be on UN reforms
g) State Responsibility
h) State Jurisdiction
i) State Territorial Sovereignty
j) Diplomatic envoys
2) After these topics revise the remaining as much as you can in left over time.
3) Revise MCQs from past papers and any book you are using for that purpose.

1. Emphasis should be on the preparation of Part 1 related to theory for this paper.
2. Prepare the political theory of Plato, Aristotle, Machiavelli, Montesqieu, Hobbs, Locke, Rosseau, Hegel and Karl Marx from the portion of western political thought it is certain that one out of the two questions would come from these philosophers. It is also a fair probability that both of the questions would come from them.
3. For Islamic political theory revise the thoughts of Al Farabi, Al Mawardi, Imam Ghazali, Nizam ul Mulk Tusi, Ghazali, Ibn Khaldun and Allama Iqbal. It is 50-50 chance that second question on theory would be from these philosophers or from the ones mentioned in point one or there would be a comparison of thoughts.
4. For Part 2 if you have background knowledge and prepared the subject thoroughly earlier than there is very little need of revision in this section.
5. Just have a look at “forms of government” and “political ideologies” topics and any other in which you find some difficulty or find it too important to ignore.
6. In MCQs special attention should be given to the main concept of philosophers, names of their books, where they are born, and any catching feature which makes them unique. Also take help of past papers for prep of MCQs.
1. From Part A only revise political systems of UK and USA. There would be one question about them certainly in paper.
2. Revise political system of India, Turkey and China. If you have good familiarity with Pakistan’s constitutional and political system you can leave Indian system as both have great similarity. One question would be from these topics in Part B.
3. Expect a question on Jinnah, Iqbal or Sir Syed so revise these personalities by keeping in mind various aspects of their life and political struggle.
4. Revise the three constitutions with special focus on 1973 and its amendments upto date and their consequences.
5. Pakistan as a Federation, as a Parliamentary Democracy and, as a Presidential form of government prepare these too.
6. Revise MCQs from past papers and also from any good book you are using for that purpose.

The paper of Pakistan affairs in CSS consists of three major parts: pre-partition, post-partition and the current developments. Pragmatically, each part warrants distinct, clinical and comprehensive approach. Today, I have received a lot queries regarding time mismanagement and study plane. The following are the golden principles of attempting Pakistan affairs paper in CSS.
1. Cover the topics which are common to both subjects first they are related to Pakistan. By doing this you can tackle both papers with single revision.
2. In Current Affairs syllabus, paper of 60 marks would be from Pakistan related topics in course outlines portion I “Pakistan’s Domestic Affairs” has 20 marks and “Pakistan’s External Affairs” has 40 marks. Try to cover maximum topics from them.
3. For Current Affairs the easy way to cover topics is not to read in detail but just type the name of topic and go to the news tab in Google search, read between three to five recent news on every topic and that is enough.
4. After covering Pakistan related topics, all or maximum number of them, upto your satisfaction, pick between 5 to 8 topics which you think are the most important ones from the rest of the portion on “Global Issues” and do the same practice mentioned in point 3.
5. After this revise important facts and figures of recent economic survey of Pakistan.
6. Then prepare the MCQs from past papers or any good book you have for MCQs on current Affairs / General Knowledge.
7. On the next day, for Pakistan Affairs most of the revision is already complete while revising for Current Affairs, only focus on remaining part which is topic one of the syllabus “Ideology of Pakistan etc”
8. Prepare MCQs afterwards and anything which you deem very important.
