6. Ukraine`s actor-president grows in stature as war-time leader
• Volodymyr Zelensky was at the height of his career as an actor and comedian before giving it all up to become president in 2019. After three difficult years in politics, he is now the face of national defiance, winning rave reviews as a war-time leader.
• Since Russia`s invasion on Thursday, the 44-year-old has used his eye for modern image management and the skills honed on stage to deliver stirring messages on social media.
• On Feb 25, the day after the outbreak of war, he filmed himself standing in the dark near the presidency building with his advisers, saying `we are all here` in an attempt to counter disinformation that he had abandoned his post.
• `Our military is here. Citizens in society are here. We`re all here defending our independence, our country, and it will stay this way, he said.
7. Russian official `apologises` for invasion
• The Russian head of delegation at a major UN climate conference expressed regrets for his country`s invasion of Ukraine on Sunday, which he said lacked just incation, according to several sources who heard him speak at the virtual meeting.
• The surprise intervention from Russia`s Oleg Anisimov at the closed-door meeting followed an electrifying live statement from his Ukrainian counterpart, Svitlana Krakovska, who spoke passionately about her country`s plight.
• `Let me present an apology on behalf of all Russians not able to prevent this conflict,` Anisimov said at the closing plenary of the virtual, 195-nation forum, according to three sources
8. Taliban ban evacuations, for now
• The Taliban will not allow any more evacuations of Afghans until the situation improves abroad for those who have already left, their spokesman said on Sunday.
• `The government has the responsibility to protect the people so this will be stopped until we get the assurance that their lives will not be endangered,`Zabihullah Mujahid told a news conference.
• More than 120,000 Afghans and dual nationals were evacuated up to August 31 when the last US-led troops withdrew, two weeks after the Taliban seized Kabul
9. Pakistan Super League: Lahore Qalandars outclass Multan Sultans to lift maiden title
